The CEA is excited to announce the Disability Rights and Inclusion (DRI) grant from the NEA! The DRI grant will significantly enhance the capacity of our CEA members to support students with disabilities through increased knowledge of IDEA and Section 504, and the implementation of evidence-based inclusive practices. Participants of the symposium will gain confidence and skills to a more inclusive environment that will foster equity and access leading students to experience more effective accommodations, greater engagement and improved academic and social outcomes. There will also be a peer mentoring offering to participants that will promote collaboration and shared best practices across the community, therefore strengthening the overall school climate. Increased awareness and understanding of legal requirements will ensure compliance and protections of students’ rights. The DRI grant will ultimately cultivate an inclusive school culture that will benefit all students, families and community members by fostering equity, support, and high expectations for every learner.
On August 4, 2026, CEA will hold its first ever Special Education Symposium at the OEA Headquarters. This symposium will be led by our own Special Education experts. . . practicing teachers in the classroom that understand the unique challenges and struggles currently facing our classroom environments. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Free parking will be available at 270 E. State St. All CEA member presenters and attendees will receive a stipend for sharing their professional knowledge, skills and best practices.
