COLUMBUS, Ohio – Members of the Columbus Education Association (CEA), the Union representing Columbus City Schools (CCS) teachers and other education professionals, have voted overwhelmingly to approve a new three-year Master Agreement with the CCS Board of Education. The agreement was approved at a CEA general membership meeting on Thursday evening, where thousands of educators gathered at the Columbus Convention Center to cast their votes.
“We are pleased to have secured a new agreement which contains many improvements for both our members and Columbus students, including new caseload language for both our special education students and our English-language learners, school safety improvements, a continuation of our groundbreaking community campus school pilot program at Northland High School, and much more” said John Coneglio, CEA President. “Despite politicians prioritizing billionaires’ sports stadiums over public education and denying our students the resources they need, educators continue to fight every day to ensure a quality education for all Columbus City Schools students.”
In addition to improvements to working and learning conditions, the agreement guarantees a salary increase of 2.25% in the first year for all bargaining unit members. This will be followed by wage negotiations for the second and third years of the agreement, which will expire in August 2028. During 2025 negotiations, a parent or community observer from the Columbus Education Justice Coalition was present during each negotiation session between CEA and the CCS Board.
CEA members now look forward to welcoming students back to school for the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year.
The Columbus Education Association is the Union representing over 4,500 teachers, librarians, nurses, counselors, psychologists, and other education professionals in Columbus City Schools. The Columbus Education Association is a proud affiliate of the Ohio Education Association and the National Education Association.
